FASTS

The purpose of fasting is to discourage self indulgence. It is a Spiritual Exercise which is beat undertaken with assistance of a Spiritual Advisor, such as a Priest. The motivation is the Soul's yearning for God. Fasting not only includes the abstaining from certain foods, but also includes extra prayer and alms to the poor and needy.

Fasting means abstaining from animal or dairy products, and eating only one meal a day. Though in 21st Century America, it is a difficult thing to do,  recipes have been developed over the ages that make Fasting easier.
