The Archangel Gabriel and the Most Holy Theotokos at Annunciation

The kindly Joseph takes Mary, his betrothed, to be his wife.

Caesar Augustus declares that all of Israel must return to their own city to be counted during the first census. Joseph and his wife, Mary, who was then great with child, travel to the City of David, which is called Bethlehem.

Mary patiently rides upon a lowly donkey as they take the long and arduous journey to Bethlehem, where Christ the Child, the Messiah, would at last be born.

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, the little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head.

The shepherds keeping watch by night are startled at the coming of the angelic hosts, and of the angel who announced to them, "Fear not! For behold, I bring unto you tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a savior, which is Christ, the Lord!"

And suddenly with the angel, there was a multitude of heavenly hosts, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace goodwill toward men."

The shepherds quickly came and honored the newborn child Jesus, the Son of God, the Son of Man, and the Redeemer of the World.

After the play, the children and the adults sang "Holy Father St. Nicholas", and then, there was a recorder duet. This was followed by a repeat performance by the St. George Choir Ensemble, which shared many of the Orthodox Nativity pieces they had previously sang at the Los Posadas Concert.
